Compatibility and Important Notices

Refer to Requirements for information on compatibility of the OneStream Studio and OneStream Excel Add-in versions.

Microsoft officially discontinued support of Silverlight at the end of October 2021. The OneStream Windows Application replaced the Silverlight-based browser interface effective for all OneStream users in September 2021. OneStream no longer supports the Silverlight-based web browser interface. You can continue to access OneStream through our mobile application and the OneStream Excel Add-in.

OneStream version 5.3 was the last version to support the Windows 7 operating system. Windows 7 is no longer supported as a client operating system as of January 14, 2020, in line with Microsoft’s mainstream support policy.

OneStream 6.x will be the final release series that includes the OneStream Studio Client which is used for custom report development. After the 6.x series, future releases will eliminate the need to install Studio Client. Report designers will be required to use the Report Designer in the Dashboard Report Component feature.

Due to evolving regulatory requirements as well as new security vulnerabilities in TLS 1.0/1.1, OneStream recommends that customers remove TLS 1.0/1.1 dependencies in their environments and disable TLS 1.0 and 1.1 at the operating system level where possible. All client operating systems that use OneStream software and services must be set to support use of TLS 1.2. This includes any authentication endpoints being used for login to OneStream API’s as well as OneStream clients such as the Desktop client or Excel Add-In. Any connection attempts using TLS versions below TLS 1.2 will result in a failure to connect.

Enhancements

  • Support for Silverlight-based Web Browser access has officially ended, and all configurations related to enabling Silverlight access are removed from the OneStream Server Configuration Utility. Self-hosted customers upgrading to release 6.8.1 should be aware that users can not access OneStream via Internet Explorer and should instead use the Windows Application. (PF1-5232)

  • TLS 1.2 is a standard that provides security improvements over previous versions. TLS 1.3, which is faster and has improved security, will replace 1.2. All client operating systems that use My Company Name, LLC software and services must support TLS 1.2/1.3. This includes any authentication endpoints for login to My Company Name, LLC API’s as well as My Company Name, LLC clients such as the Desktop client or Excel Add-In. Connection attempts using TLS versions below TLS 1.2 will result in a failure to connect. (PF1-5231)

  • The Microsoft Financial Class suite of functions is now available in the Business Rule Editor, Intellisense. Writing financial functions is now faster, enabling more calculations with less code. (PF1-5146)

  • Seven new chart types are available in the OneStream Windows App Spreadsheet: Treemap, Pareto, Sunburst, Histogram, Funnel, Box and Whisker, and Waterfall. (PF1-5258)

  • The Linked Cube Views feature that provides the option to launch a Cube View from another when viewing it in the Data Explorer grid has been extended to the Spreadsheet tool (inside the Windows Application) and the Excel Add-In. When you right-click a Cube View data cell in the Spreadsheet tool and Excel Add-In, the context menu will show the list of links to other Cube Views. Selecting a link launches the linked Cube View in a dialog allowing for more detail and visibility. (PF1-5786)

  • Linked Dashboards is a new capability alongside the existing Linked Cube Views feature that offers even more flexibility and ease of use when doing data analysis. It provides the option to launch a Dashboard from a Cube View when the latter is viewed in either the Data Explorer grid, Windows App Spreadsheet tool, or Excel Add-In. When you right-click a Cube View data cell, the context menu will show the list of Linked Dashboards alongside Linked Cube Views. Selecting a link launches the linked Dashboard in a dialog allowing for more detail and visibility. (PF1-5786)

Fixed

  • SQL protection changes were made to focus the protection boundaries on database object altering statements and allow read select statements.

Known Issues

  • Machines running on Intel Core Iris Xe graphic drivers with versions older than 27.20.100.9616 cannot correctly display data in Report Preview mode and are unable to handle page breaks when continuous scrolling is enabled for the report. Intel has released a fix for the driver with version 27.20.100.9616, and once upgraded, the issue is resolved. (PF1-5313)

  • Any SQL Data Adapters using actions other than viewing data in the database will not execute and will result in an error. (PF1-6022)

  • An error occurs when clicking "Undo" in the Windows App Text Editor (PF1-5871)

  • Text wrapping will not work with a Cube View which uses Cube View Extender Rules. It causes Reports to incorrectly format data. (PF-1415)

  • In Cube Views with nested expansions the Member Name and Description wraps when viewed as a report. (PF-2447 )

  • Non-Administrator Application Pool User Returns Errors for PerfLib and PerfNet When Recycling IIS and Background Intelligent Transfer Service When Using "Recycle App Pool". (PF-19228 )

  • If your security protocols do not allow use of the click once client and you use the desktop client to install, the first time the install is performed as a silent install. If you need to upgrade, uninstall does not work. There is a workaround. (PF-6329 )

  • Excel Extensible Documents may not retain the margin and print area formatting when assigned to a OneStream Book of reports. (PF-7568 )

  • To have SSL security configured between the OneStream Application and Web Servers, Application Pools must use a local administrator account rather than a domain account for On-Prem. (PF-12164)

  • When navigating to a Linked Cube View, the drill-down feature may not properly open a source document. (PF-13387)
